Bendigo – situated in the geographical centre of Victoria. Should it be the central to the tour itinerary of bands playing Victoria? Yup. Could it be? Let’s you and I do what we can to make that the case! When the venues book out of town bands, I’ll aim to play them and if possible, interview them.

I’ll support the local acts too, because we wanna hear local voices and sounds too, right? When you hear about these gigs and you dig the act, buy a ticket in advance. Deal?

Together we can support our great local acts, while putting our beautiful regional city on the rock and roll tour map!

16 Jul 2026 What's On Your Radio This week I chat with the three members of The Damos, a Bendigo based punk band who enjoy taking the piss and singing fast melodic songs inspired by the likes of The Ramones, Screeching Weasel, The Queers and NOFX. We'll talk about how each member began playing their instruments, their individual early and enduing influences, what attracts them to punk music and the recording and realisation of their debut EP, "Into It". I'll play the singles "Fridget AF" and "Jessica", along with "Scotty's Saving Trash Cult". The Damos play The Golden Vine, here in Bendigo tomorrow (Friday) night with Ross River, Keggin and Radio Rejects from NSW. There's the local original music gig guide, and music from Radio Rejects and Catherine Britt.

9 Jul 2026 What's On Your Radio As ever, the goal of this show is to highlight the music being played in our local area. This week I chat with Alex of local band DOG. DOG are launching their latest single, “Strahdale” at Let’s Chat Park this Saturday, along with HHSP, The Refuge and Floater. The gig is presented by Succubus Entity. Let’s get in the mood, with two tracks from DOG’s 2024 self-titled EP, namely Bones and Structures.

2 Jul 2026 What's On Your Radio This week I chat with Kim Salmon, who plays the Bridge in Castlemaine on Thursday July 31 as part of a national 17 date tour to support the new album “Totally Sick” released through Cheersquad by his group Smoked Salmon. Kim has earned his reputation as an authentic artist incapable of choosing the safe road. For nearly fifty years, he has performed on the world's biggest stages and with the most remote punk bands; traversing every corner of music and art to create a body of work that stands up with the best. You might know him from the Beasts of Bourbon, The Scientists, The Surrealists, Antenna (with Dave Fawkner) or Darling Downs (with Ron Peno). As ever, we'll get in the mood with songs from our interviewee, have the local gig guide and squeeze a track by Van Walker and a little of Charlie Marshall in at the end (both playing locally this weekend).

25 Jun 2026

25 Jun 2026 What's On Your Radio This week I chat with Leo and Matt from local noise makers, Vague Rituals. The band play Trash Cult this coming Saturday, June 27, with Fine Motor and tickets are available via Try Booking. Vague Rituals describe themselves as a 3-piece art-rock act, who have an eclectic array of musical influences and produce their own engaging take on a particular brand of noise-laden, melodic indie-rock. As ever, let’s get ourselves in the mood with a couple of tunes by the band, before finding out more about them when I chat with Leo and Matt. There's also the gig guide and music from Fine Motor, Van Walker with Ella Hooper and a little Black Sorrow; all of whom play locally this weekend!
