Glory Days leans into nostalgia. Music-evoked nostalgia can connect us to our life story and is known to activate pleasure hormones such as dopamine and oxytocin!
The songs I play -mainly from the 70s and 80s – will be chosen to trigger memories, emotions and associations. Boomers like myself will recall these decades as perhaps the most intense period of our lives, and the songs we listened to then can still bring us right back.
My commentary will reference some of the social and political turmoil of the time and I will also talk about the way the poetic images constructed in song lyrics can have powerful emotional resonance.
